Kassie Stanfill, a four-time NCAA Regional participant as a player for Louisville (2006-09), enters her third season as an assistant coach for the Ball State softball program in 2015.

In her first two seasons on staff, Stanfill has helped guide the Cardinals to back-to-back Mid-American Conference regular season titles and a 70-36 overall record, including a 30-7 mark in MAC play.

In 2014, Stanfill helped guide the Cardinals to a 33-19 overall record, a 12-4 ledger in MAC action and the program's fifth MAC regular season championship in the past six season.

Serving as the Cardinals’ pitching coach in 2014, Stanfill helped the staff lead the conference in league-only action with a 2.06 team ERA. Her pitchers combined to throw seven complete game shutouts on the season, including a thrilling 3-0 win at No. 3 Arizona State (March 2).

She helped sophomore pitcher Nicole Steinbach earn her second consecutive Second Team All-MAC honor, while her pitchers combined to earn five MAC West Division Pitcher of the Week accolades.

In her first year on the Cardinals’ staff, Stanfill helped guide the program to a 37-17 overall record, an 18-3 ledger in Mid-American Conference action and to the program’s fourth MAC regular season title.

Primarily responsible for working with Ball State’s outfielders in 2013, Stanfill helped junior left fielder Jennifer Gilbert become the first all-American in program history as she was named to the 2013 National Fastpitch Coaches Association NCAA Division I All-America Third Team.

Gilbert finished the 2013 campaign ranked in the top 20 nationally in nearly every offensive category and, prior to earning All-America status, became just the second player in program history to earn NFCA All-Great Lakes Region First Team honors twice in a career. Gilbert also became the first player in program history and just the fourth player in MAC annals to earn a pair of MAC Player of the Year honors (2012 & 2013). Gilbert went on to win it a third time in 2014.

In addition, Stanfill helped senior center fielder Amanda Carpenter pick up Second Team All-MAC honors for the second straight season (2012 & 2013) after posting a .338 batting average in league action. A starter in center field for all 21 MAC games, Carpenter ranked second in the conference with eight doubles in league-only games, while her 18 MAC RBI were tied for sixth.

Overall, Stanfill helped Ball State’s players pick up a league-high nine overall MAC honors, including three of the league’s five specialty awards in 2013. Her outfielders also picked up four MAC West Division Player of the Week accolades, with Gilbert earning National Field Player of the Week on April 15.

Prior to joining the Ball State staff for the 2013 season, Stanfill spent the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at Middle Tennessee where she was responsible for developing the hitters and outfielders. She helped the Blue Raiders offense establish a program record with 41 home runs in her final season, while the team's batting average climbed from .247 in 2010 to .272 in 2012 under her guidance.

Prior to joining the MTSU coaching staff, Stanfill served as the varsity assistant coach and junior varsity head coach at La Rue County High School in Hodgenville, Ky., in 2009-10. In addition, Stanfill has worked numerous camps at Louisville and Tennessee.

Before her coaching career, Stanfill was a four-year letterwinner (2006-09) and two-year team co-captain (2008-09) for the Louisville softball program. A two-time All-Big East Third Team selection, Stanfill was a .293 career hitter for the Cardinals, posting 155 hits over her career, including 29 doubles, six triples and 10 home runs. She also made 68 career appearances in the circle for U of L, posting a 2.72 career earned run average, a 27-13 record and 227 strikeouts.
