No. 15 Men's Volleyball Downs Quincy
QUINCY, Ill. - The No. 15 Ball State men’s volleyball team earned its ninth-straight win with a sweep of Quincy (25-21, 25-17, 25-14) Friday evening. Red-shirt senior Jamion Hartley led the way with 14 kills.
With the win, the Cardinals improve to 17-5 on the season and 6-5 in MIVA action. This is the ninth-straight win for Ball State and the fourth-consecutive sweep. The Hawks fall to 9-18 on the year and 0-11 in league action.
Hartley had a .650 clip (14-1-20) while middle attackers Matt Leske and Kevin Owens hit .455 (6-1-11) and .364 (5-1-11) respectively. Greg Herceg had six kills to go with his match-high four service aces.
Setter Graham McIlvaine had 26 assists to go with six digs and two assisted blocks. While McIlvaine did have three service errors on the night, he did serve 10 straight points in the third set to help the Cardinals cruise to victory. Tommy Rouse had seven digs on the night to go with three assists.
Owens was credited with a solo block and three assisted blocks while Leske tallied a solo block and two assisted blocks.
Ball State outhit Quincy .382 (34-8-68) to .195 (33-18-77) and held the advantage in team blocks (7.0-5.0).
