Clare Collins, a graduate of Prairie Ridge High School in Illinois, has signed a national letter of intent to attend Ball State and compete on the gymnastics team, according to Cardinals’ head coach Joanna Saleem.
“We are very excited to add Clare to the Ball State family,” Saleem said. “She will make an immediate impact on all four events, adding depth to this talented incoming class for 2014-15. This past season Clare was a top Level 10 competitor and showed the personality and character we are looking for in recruits. We are looking forward to watching her grow as a gymnast over the next four years. We believe she is just beginning her success, and there are many exceptional things she will do for the Cardinals.”
Collins, who trains at Trinity GEMS Gymnastics with Coach Dennis Breit, was the vault champion in four meets, including winning the vault at the Illinois State Championships in 2014. She finished fifth at the 2014 Regional in the All-Around and placed 18th at last year’s Junior Olympic National Championships. Collins won the floor at the United Gymnastics Academy and was runner-up at the Regional Championships in 2014.
