Gymnastics Suffers Narrow Loss at Illinois-Chicago

Ball State's gymnastics team suffered a 194.100 to 193.950 loss at Illinois-Chicago despite winning three events as a team.

The Cardinals tallied a 48.600 on the vault, a 48.850 on the beam and a 48.575 on the floor to win all three events, but suffered a loss on the bars and a loss in the meet to the Flames.

Denasiha Christian claimed first on the vault with a 9.800, while Erin Patchey was third with a 9.750.  Sarah Ebeyer and Brooke Evans tied for fourth with identical 9.700 marks.

On the bars, Brooklyn Schumacher managed a tie for second with a 9.800, while Angie Hosbach tied for fifth with a 9.750.

Jessica Leko finished second on the beam with a 9.850, while Samantha Santos, Kayla Beckler and Miranda Kuehl placed fourth through sixth, respectively.

Kristin Vignola and Christian were the top finishers on the floor with 9.750 scores to tie for second.

Ball State will compete at Ohio State Saturday.
