Ball State's gymnastics team ended its five match winning streak and suffered its first Mid-American Conference loss to Western Michigan by a narrow 194.20 to 193.275 margin.

Brooke Evans and Denasiha Christian tied for first on the vault with a pair of 9.70s, while Christian also tied for first on the floor with a 9.85 mark.  Angie Hosbach won the beam with a 9.875, and Brittney Emmons tied with Christian on the floor.

Hosbach's mark on the beam ties for the fifth best mark in Ball State history.

With the loss, the Cardinals fall to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in the MAC.

Hosbach also finished third on the bars after posting a 9.825, while Brooklyn Schumacher was fourth with a 9.75.

Samantha Santos was third on the beam with a 9.825, while Hosbach tied for third on the floor with a 9.825.

Ball State's 49.050 team score on the floor -- its final event of the meet -- tied for the 10th best team mark in school history, but was not enough to overcome the team's deficit after the first two events.

The Cardinals fell behind 97.075 to 95.900 after two events, but defeated the Broncos on the beam and floor to close the gap.

Ball State will travel to Bowling Green Friday as it continues MAC action.  Eastern Michigan will also be at the three-way meet, but will not count as a league match for the Cardinals.
