Gymnastics Opens Home Season Friday in its CVC Night




Ball State's gymnastics team opens its 2013 home schedule Friday at 7 p.m. vs. Central Michigan in Irving Gym in the Student Recreation and Wellness Center.

The Cardinals, 0-2 on the season, will open not only the home portion of its schedule, but also the Mid-American Conference season. 

Friday's meet is Cardinal Varsity Club Night and all CVC members are encouraged to attend.  Admission to the gymnastics meet is free of charge.

Ball State opened the season against the nation's No. 3 ranked Florida Gators before travelling to Iowa, a team that has participated in three straight NCAA Regionals.

The Cardinals are led by a senior class of Nicole Allen, Tiffany Broadbeck, Morgan Coslow, Brittney Emmons and Emily Wehrle.

Emmons won the all-around in Ball State's last meet at Iowa with a 38.525 score.  Allen placed second on the vault with a 9.750 mark.

Ball State freshman Denasiha Christian tied for first on the beam with a 9.825, while Angie Hosbach was third with a 9.800.

Central Michigan enters the meet ranked 16th in the country and fourth in the regon.  The Chippewas have opened the season with a pair of home wins over Wisconsin-Eau Claire and New Hampshire.
