Gymnastics Team Suffers Loss to Kentucky

Ball State's gymnastics team suffered a 196.500 to 194.150 loss at home to Kentucky Sunday in Irving Gym of the Student Recreation and Wellness Center.

The final team score for the Cardinals marked the 24th best team total in school history, while UK set a school record with its final tally.

With the loss, Ball State falls to 5-7 overall.  The Cardinals are 3-3 in Mid-American Conference action this season.

Brooklyn Schumacher turned in the team's top individual performance with a tie for second on the bars with a 9.850 mark.

Brittney Emmons tied for fourth on the bars with a 9.825 plus tied for third on the floor with a 9.80 mark and tied for fifth on the vault with a 9.75.

Denasiha Christian tied Emmons on the floor with an identical 9.80.

Brooke Evans, Nicole Allen and Emmons all tied for fifth on the vault with 9.750 marks.

Sam Santos and Leah Wilson tied for fourth on the beam with 9.80 scores.

Ball State will compete at Illinois Sunday against the Illini and Illinois-Chicago at 2 p.m.
