White Defeats Cardinal In Football's Spring Game
At Ball State's Spring Game, the White Team Defeated the Cardinal Team 28-0 as the football team concluded its spring practice in preparation for the 2007 season.
The senior members of the team conducted a draft and have made their selections for Saturday's Cardinal and White Game at the Scheumann Stadium Practice Complex. In front of an excellent crowd in the game played on the practice fields due to the installation of FieldTurf on the Scheumann Stadium game field, Nate Davis connected with Dante Love for three scores as the White tallied the win.
"Nate Davis and Dante Love are two players who are competitors," Ball State head coach Brady Hoke says. "We need to find some players to go with them and get the offense moving. We had a good ball control offense today and that was important. Any time you mix players up it is difficult to evaluate the game, but we will break down the tape and see where we are at as we get ready for our season opener. The competition the Spring Game brings is what today is all about."
Davis and Love connected on a 10-yard scoring strike early in the game, and then after a Mike Dorulla interception, the combination connected on a 43-yard strike to take a 14-0 advantage.
MiQuale Lewis rushed for a one-yard score to give the White a 21-0 edge, and then Davis and Love connected one final time for a 10-yard touchdown.
"We had a great spring, and that carried over the momentum from the way we ended last season and worked hard through the winter," Hoke says. "We had no major injuries in the final practice and that is the No. 1 goal."
Ball State will open the 2007 season at home Thurs., Aug. 30, vs. Miami University at 7 p.m. at Scheumann Stadium.
