Football's Nate Davis Earns Weekly MAC Award
Nate Davis (Bellaire, Ohio/Bellaire H.S.), a junior quarterback on the Ball State University football team, has been selected as the Mid-American Conference West Division Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Cardinals 38-16 win over Eastern Michigan last Saturday.
Davis led the nationally ranked Cardinals to the victory by throwing for two touchdowns and catching a TD pass in the contest. He completed 17-of-31 passes for 241 yards plus caught a 4-yard pass from wide receiver Briggs Orsbon with 2:36 to play in the first half which gave Ball State a 10-0 advantage.
This marks the second time in Davis’ career he has earned the MAC’s weekly award. He also earned it one time last season.
Davis, who is 15-6 as a starter in the last 21 games, has thrown at least one TD pass in 24 of the last 25 games. He is Ball State’s career leader in touchdown passes (63), passing yards (7,700) and career 250-yard passing games (16). He needs 17 pass attempts and seven completions to become the Cardinals all-time leader in those categories.
Ball State improved to 8-0 overall and 4-0 in the MAC with Saturday’s victory. The Cardinals will host Northern Illinois Wed., Nov. 5, in an 8 p.m. contest, which will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
