Dan Gerberry (Austintown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch H.S.), a senior center on the Ball State University football team, has been named to the Rimington Trophy Watch List for the 2008 season.
The Rimington Trophy goes to the premier center in college football at each of the divisions of college football.
Gerberry anchors Ball State’s offensive line, which leads the Mid-American Conference in fewest sacks and fewest tackles for loss allowed. In addition, the Cardinals offensive line ranks eighth in the country for fewest sacks allowed after giving up only six sacks in the first seven games this season.
Gerberry has started all 43 games in his four-year career at Ball State.
Ball State is 7-0 overall and ranked 20th in the nation by The Associated Press and in the first Bowl Championship Series Standings of the year. The Cardinals are ranked 22nd in the country in the latest USA Today Poll.
Ball State will host Eastern Michigan Saturday in a noon kickoff at Scheumann Stadium.
