Football Kicks Off GoDaddy Bowl with Press Conference

Ball State's football team was represented at the GoDaddy preview press conference by athletics director Bill Scholl, head coach Pete Lembo plus student-athletes Zane Fakes and Keith Wenning.

The preview press conference took place at the Heron Lakes Country Club in Mobile, Ala., the city where the GoDaddy Bowl will take place Jan. 5, 2014 at 8 p.m. (CT) and air live on ESPN.  Ball State, 10-2 on the season, will face the Arkansas State Red Wolves, 7-5 on the year.

Comments from Bill Scholl:

"We are thrilled to be here.  Our 115 football players and coaching staff are looking forward to the week of the GoDaddy Bowl.  From day one, Mobile was one of the places are fans always talked about positively and wanted to be back.  We want to congratulate Arkansas State on their co-championship of the Sun Belt Conference.  We also want to thank the bowl committee and the city of Mobile.  We are sure they will show our fans a great amount of hospitality."

Comments from Coach Lembo:

"This is a great day for our program and a great opportunity for Ball State to be here.  The hospitality has been simply tremendous.  This looks to be an outstanding event for our fans whether they fly or travel down I65.  Three years ago I had the opportunity to come to Ball State and shortly after, had the opportunity to meet the people from the GoDaddy Bowl.  Three years later we are here and anticipating a great matchup with an outstanding Arkansas State team.  We know its going to be a tremendous challenge.  We have been able to accomplish quite a bit at Ball State the last few years, but the one thing that has never been done at Ball State is to win a bowl game.  We have an opportunity to put the icing on the cake of a 10-win season and go out and have a chance to win a bowl game this year against a great team."

The Ball State travel party spent the day researching the team hotel, practice facilities, Ladd-Peebles Stadium and the city of Mobile in preparation for the upcoming game.
