Sean Baker, a 2012 graduate of Ball State and a four-year letterman for the Cardinals' football team, has signed a contract with the National Football League's Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Baker, who signed with Tampa Bay as a free agent last spring, has been signed to the Buccaneers' practice squad.

An undrafted free agent safety, Baker was invited to Tampa Bay's rookie mini-camp on a tryout contract.  In the final preseason game of the year, Baker tallied six tackles, two interceptions, two pass breakups and one fumble recovery in the team's 30-3 win over the Washington Redskins.

A two-time team captain, Baker was an All-Mid-American Conference First-Team selection in 2011 as a senior after earning second team honors in 2010.  He earned Ball State's John Magnabosco Award as the team's most valuable player in 2010 after being a co-recipient in 2011.

Baker set the Ball State career record for interceptions as a junior and completed his four seasons with 18.  He was the first player in Ball State history to return two fumbles for touchdowns in a career -- at Buffalo in 2010 and at Indiana in 2008.  Baker, who had four multiple interception games in his career, was the active leader in career interceptions among all Football Bowl Subdivision players in 2011.
