Football Media Day Kicks Off Season

Ball State head coach Pete Lembo and student-athletes Travis Freeman and Keith Wenning were at the Mid-American Conference Football Media Days in Detroit, Mich.

The three spent the day conducting interviews with media outlets from around the country, while also appearing live on ESPN3 and taping segments with Sports Time Ohio, XOS Digital and for www.mac-sports.com.

In addition, the MAC announced its preseason poll as selected by members of the MAC News Media Association.  The Cardinals were selected fourth in the six team MAC West Division. 

Toledo was selected to win the MAC West, followed by Northern Illinois, Western Michigan, Ball State, Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan.

In the East Division, Ohio was picked first, followed by Bowling Green, Miami University, Kent State, Buffalo, Akron and Massachusetts.  Ohio was picked to win the Marathon MAC Championship Game.

The MAC also announced a four-year extension thru 2015 with Ford Field as host and Marathon as title sponsor of the MAC Football Championship Game.  This year's Marathon MAC Football Championship Game is Fri., Nov. 30, at 7 p.m. at Ford Field.  It is the second longest running college football conference championship game in the nation.  In addition, with Ford Field as the host, this also makes the Marathon MAC Football Championship Game from Ford Field the second longest consecutive venue outside of the Southeastern Conference's title game from the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Ga.
