MUNCIE, Ind. - Sophomore wide receiver kick returner Jamill Smith has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Special Teams Player of the Week for the first time in his career.

Smith, a Muncie native, returned the opening kickoff for a career-high 48 yards in the Cardinals 17-point second half comeback victory, a 31-27 win over Central Michigan Saturday in Scheumann Stadium.   The 17-point comeback tied the fourth largest in school history.

For the game Smith led all returners for both teams with four kickoff returns for a total of 135 yards.  Smith also contributed to the win a 34 yard touchdown reception.

The Ball State football team travels to MAC West Division rival Western Michigan Saturday for a 2 p.m. kickoff at Waldo Stadium.
