Connor Ryan, a junior wide receiver on the Ball State football team, has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District V Team, which is selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

"Connor Ryan has been a productive player and a model student-athlete in the Ball State football program," second-year head coach Pete Lembo says.  "His outstanding leadership skills have been a major asset to our program both on and off the field.  We are pleased he is being recognized for his success and that he will be back with us for another season."

Ryan will now appear on the national team ballot and will be eligible to become a Capital One Academic All-American.  The Academic All-America Team will be announced Dec. 6

A financial analysis major with a 3.35 grade-point average on Ball State's 4.0 scale, Ryan tallied 42 catches for 331 yards with three touchdowns.  Ryan averaged 27.6 receiving yards per game and 7.9 yards per catch.

Ryan, a Ball State team captain in 2012, started five games and played in all 12 for the Cardinals.  He managed a career high seven catches for a career best 88 yards and one touchdown at Toledo.

Ball State finished the regular season with a 9-3 overall record, which ties for the third most wins in a single season in school history.  Under the direction of Lembo, the Cardinals are bowl eligible for a second straight season.
