Ball State Quick Hits

Ball State opened the season with a touchdown drive of 80 yards on its first possession of the season opener vs. Eastern Michigan. The Cardinals scored opening drive touchdowns twice in 2011 (at Northern Illinois and vs. Army).

Ball State managed 596 yards in total offense vs. Eastern Michigan in the season opener. The Cardinals gained 329 yards rushing and 267 yards passing. The 596 yards marked the fourth highest single-game total in Cardinals history.

Ball State set a school record with 36 first downs and ran 96 total plays, the third most in school history in its 2012 season opener vs. Eastern Michigan.

Ball State's football team is scheduled to appear on television a possible eight times in 2011. The Cardinals have played on television 24 times in the last three seasons.

The Cardinals are 21-15 in their last 36 Mid-American Conference games.

Jahwan Edwards ran for a career high 200 yards and tied his career high with three rushing touchdowns in the season opener vs. Eastern Michigan.

Keith Wenning has started the last 23 games at quarterback for the Cardinals. He started the final 10 games of 2012 as a true freshman, all 12 games as a sophomore in 2011 and the season opener in 2012. 

Scouting Clemson: Clemson, which was ranked 14th in the nation in the preseason by both The Associated Press and in the USA Today Coaches Poll, opened the season with a 26-19 win over Auburn in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in Atlanta, Ga. . . . Tajh Boyd completed 24-of-34 passes for 208 yards with one touchdown and one interception . . . Andre Ellington rushed for 231 yards on 26 carries, while DeAndre Hopkins tallied 13 catches for 119 yards and one TD . . . The Tigers were 10-4 overall in 2011, and claimed the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship with a 6-2 mark . . . Clemson lost to West Virginia in the Orange Bowl after the 2011 season.

Series vs. Clemson: Ball State and Clemson have met two times and the Tigers have won both meetings . . . Clemson tallied a 24-10 win at Clemson Sept. 5, 1992, and tallied a 30-7 victory at Clemson Sept. 21, 2002, in the second meeting.
