NOTES:  Named Ball State’s defensive coordinator/linebackers coach in Jan. of 2014 . . . helped Ball State's defense rank sixth in the Mid-American Conference in scoring defense, allowing only 27.2 points per game . . . helped the Cardinals rank second in the MAC in turnover margin by leading a defense that recovered 14 fumbles and intercepted 10 passes to help tally a + 0.75 turnover margin . . . guided Ball State's defense to a ranking of second in the MAC in red zone defense . . . spent 2006-13 as the head coach at Ball State head coach Pete Lembo’s alma mater, Georgetown . . . named the 2011 Patriot League Coach of the Year and was an Eddie Robinson National Coach of the Year finalist . . . had five players receive All-Patriot League honors, while six of his student-athletes earned league honors in 2012 . . . coached the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year in 2011 and 2012 . . . helped Georgetown to an 8-3 record in 2011, its best since 1999, and played for the Patriot League Championship in the final game of the season . . . helped the U.S. Naval Academy to three bowl games and a 26-11 record in his last three years . . . Navy won three Commander-in-Chief's titles during his time in Annapolis, won the 2004 Emerald Bowl, the 2005 Poinsettia Bowl and participated in the 2003 Houston Bowl . . . helped Navy’s 2004 team finish 26th in the country in scoring defense (19.83) and a school record-tying 10 wins . . . helped the 2003 defense finish 14th in the nation in pass defense, 42nd in pass efficiency defense, 34th in total defense and 34th in scoring defense . . . helped Marshall to the 2000 Mid-American Conference Championship and the Motor City Bowl and followed that up with a win at the 2001 GMAC Bowl . . . also worked at Marshall from 1996-98, when the team was making the transition to the Football Bowl Subdivision . . . helped Marshall win the 1996 Southern Conference en route to the Division I-AA National Championship . . . helped Marshall to back-to-back MAC Championships in 1997 and 1998, reaching the Motor City Bowl in both years . . . helped Marshall's 1998 defense rank 23rd nationally, including 16th in scoring defense, 14th against the pass and 25th against the run . . . helped  Syracuse win the 1999 Music City Bowl as an assistant coach and the 1988 Sugar Bowl as a graduate assistant . . . in addition to working with Lembo at Dartmouth in 1995, also worked with current Ball State assistants Shannon Morrison while at Marshall and John Strollo while at Northeastern.

Personal Information:
Married to the former Kathy McDonald . . . one daughter and two sons . . . daughter, Alexandra, a Notre Dame graduate, married Michael Hoffman in summer of 2011 . . . son, Patrick, is a video intern for the Northwestern football program . . . son, Ryan, is a student at Bowling Green.
