Teach Scores Twice in 3-2 Win Over Lindenwood

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Junior Tarel Teach scored two goals to help the Ball State field hockey team down Lindenwood Saturday afternoon. Freshman Lexi Kavanaugh also scored a goal for the Cardinals.

With the win Ball State moves to 3-3 on the year while Lindenwood drops to 1-4.

Kavanaugh got the Cardinals on the board early knocking in a ball passed by Teach in the third minute. Teach would score her own goal 1:46 later getting a pass from sophomore Allie White. The Cardinals held the Lions scoreless the remainder of the half.

Lindenwood would manage to score in the 45th minute when Carly Brengosz got a pass from Kelsey Musson. Teach would add her second goal of the game in the 56th minute unassisted. The Lions would score again in the 57th minute when Ashton Lichvar put a pass from Karlie Quinn in the goal.

Teach led the Cardinals with five shots, four of which were on goal. Bethany Han, Natalie Jardell and Tori Widrick were also credited with shots.

Sophomore Shelby Henley made six saves on the game. The Cardinals outshot the Lions 13-11 and held the advantage in penalty corners 10-7.

Ball State will square off against Saint Louis Sunday, Sept. 22 at 2 p.m. Check for news and results.
