Field Hockey Falls 4-1 to Kent State Sunday

KENT, Ohio – The Ball State field hockey team fell to Mid-American Conference opponent Kent State, 4-1, Sunday at Murphy-Mellis Field as the Golden Flashes outshot the Cardinals, 17-6, and connected on 4-of-12 shots on goal.

Senior Devanny Kuhn (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) tallied her second goal in two contests at 61:00 mark of the second period on a backhanded shot from the top of the circle.

Freshman midfielder Tori Widrick (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) recorded the assist for Ball State, her first of the season.

On the day, Kuhn posted two shots on goal while freshman midfielder Sanne Hermans (The Hague, Holland) and senior forward Kristen Falk (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) each tallied one shot.

Senior goalkeeper Chelsea Mitchell (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) completed the contest with eight saves during 70 minutes of action in the cage.

Head coach Beth Maddox and the team returns to Ohio for a midweek contest versus Miami (OH) at the Field Hockey Complex in Oxford, Ohio, Wednesday at 6 p.m.
