Field Hockey Suffers 6-1 Loss to Indiana
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey team (6-11, 1-3 MAC) fell to the Indiana Hoosiers (9-8, 1-4 Big Ten) Sunday afternoon, 6-1, at the IUFH Complex. Sophomore Bethany Han scored her second goal of the season.
The Hoosiers got on the board first in the eighth minute when Karen Lorite scored off a penalty corner. The Cardinals would counter nearly a minute later when Han secured a solo goal. IU’s Sydney Supica would find the back of the net at the 11:25 mark and Lorite would score her second goal in the 28th minute. Audra Heilman, Mariella Grote and Supica would score the rest of the Hoosiers’ goals in the second half.
Han was credited with three shots for the Cardinals while freshmen Lexi Kavanaugh and Bryce Barnes also managed shots. Ball State drew three penalty corners to Indiana’s 11. Ball State made eight saves while IU’s goalie Maggie Olson made three and Morgan Dye earned a defensive save.
The Cardinals will wrap up the season visiting MAC foe Missouri State for a 1 p.m. match up on Sunday, Nov. 3 in game that could have post-season implications for the Cardinals. The top four teams in the MAC will make it to the MAC Championships. Kent State is a perfect 4-0 in conference action followed by Central Michigan with a 3-1 MAC record. Miami and Ohio are both sitting at 2-2 in league play followed by the Cardinals, 1-3, and Missouri State, 0-4.
