Field Hockey to Host Bellarmine on Senior Day
MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey team (3-14, 0-5 MAC) will conclude the 2012 campaign and honor two seniors Sunday, Oct. 28 when it hosts the Bellarmine Knights. Seniors Devon Bell (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) and Marisa Weachter (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) will be honored prior to the game.
The Cardinals have four athletes who have netted at least five goals on the season, with Tarel Teach (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) leading the charge with six. Freshman Allie White (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont) has recorded a team-high five assists on the season and leads the team in points with 15. Bianca Velez (Virginia Beach, Va./Floyd E. Kellam) has a team-best three defensive saves.
Maddi Elliott (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart) has recorded 67 saves this season and holds a 5.90 goals against average, while Shelby Henley (Novi, Mich./Novi) has made 71 saves with a 6.73 goals against average.
Prior to the game, the Cardinals will take time to recognize its senior class. Bell has played in 33 games, has tallied two goals, four points and two defensive saves in her time as a Cardinal. Weachter has seen action in 70 games and has netted three goals and has recorded six points. One of Weachter's two goals this season came in the thrilling 3-2 win over Indiana at home.
SCOUTING BELLARMINE: The Knights are 6-9 this season. The offense is headed up by Alexis VanWallaghen and Brittany Raque, who have recorded six and five goals respectively on the year. Paris Bryant has played the majority of the minutes at goal, holding a 3-6 record. Bryant has made 50 saves and has a 1.91 goals against average.
SERIES HISTORY: Although these two squads faced off in a scrimmage to open the season, they have never played a competitive game.
