The Ball State soccer team hits the road for its only game this week, traveling to Valparaiso for an in-state matchup with the Crusaders.
The game will be the first of three straight away from home for Ball State (2-1-1), which is coming off a 2-2 draw Sunday against Morehead State at the Briner Sports Complex.
Gabby Veldman assisted on both goals in that game. The sophomore midfielder from South Bend enters Friday's contest tied for first among all Mid-American Conference players with two assists and tied for second with two goals.
Valparaiso (0-1-3) is coming off three consecutive draws, including two of the scoreless variety. Goals could be tough to come by Friday at Valpo’s Brown Field because Ball State also prides itself on its defense. The Cardinals allowed fewer goals per game than any team in the MAC last season.
Ball State will also be on the road next weekend before returning to the Briner Sports Complex Sept. 20 to host Jacksonville State. The Cardinals will celebrate Senior Day before that game.
