Soccer Hosts IUPUI in Saturday Exhibition

The Ball State soccer team will get its first taste of live game action Saturday when the Cardinals tune up for the 2014 regular season with an exhibition contest against IUPUI.

Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m. at the Briner Sports Complex, and the game will run concurrently with Ball State's annual Fan Jam next door at Scheumann Stadium.

Ball State welcomes back 20 letterwinners from a team that took the program to its first-ever Mid-American Conference Tournament championship game last season. The Cardinals finished the year at 11-7-4 overall, posting their highest win total in six years.

Saturday marks the only exhibition contest for Ball State, which opens the regular season at home Friday, Aug. 22 at 5 p.m. against IPFW. The Cardinals will play nine regular season home games at the Briner Sports Complex throughout the fall.

Fan Jam runs Saturday from 5-7 p.m., offering fans a chance to check out both events.

Interactive stations will be set up at Scheumann Stadium for all Cardinals fans to test their skills against their favorite Ball State student-athletes. Team posters from each of the fall sports will be available for autographs from the student-athletes and coaches.

This year’s Fan Jam features free food and beverages, while supplies last, from Chick-fil-A, Jimmy John’s, Marsh, McDonald’s, Papa John’s, Pepsi and Texas Roadhouse.  The merchandise stand at Scheumann Stadium will be open so fans can purchase Cardinal and White apparel for this season.  WLBC-FM will also be present at Scheumann Stadium conducting a live broadcast.

Admission and parking for both Fan Jam and the soccer exhibition match are free.
