MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ante Cop has joined the Ball State soccer coaching staff and will serve as the Cardinals’ goalkeeper coach. He brings professional playing experience as well as coaching experience at both the professional and collegiate levels.

A former All-American at Southern New Hampshire University, Cop played most recently for the Chicago Riot (2010-11) and the Milwaukee Wave (2012) of the Major Indoor Soccer League. He served as both a player and assistant coach for the Rockford Rampage Professional Soccer Club (2005-10, 2012-13), helping the team to an American Indoor Soccer League National Championship in 2008.

“We are delighted to have Ante aboard,” Ball State head coach Craig Roberts said. “He has an immense amount of experience both on and off the field. His professional playing background along with his coaching credentials will serve our goalkeepers with the highest level of coaching needed. We are truly excited as a program to watch Ante cultivate yet another series of nationally recognized goalkeepers. His insight and energy will serve as great foundations for the Ball State soccer program.”

Cop joins the Ball State staff after spending the previous seven years (2007-13) on the coaching staff for Robert Morris University, an NAIA program in Chicago, Ill. His final four years at Robert Morris, he served as the Eagles’ top assistant, goalkeeper coach and director of recruiting and scouting.

He coached a pair of All-American goalkeepers at Robert Morris and helped the program to five postseason appearances and one conference regular season championship in 2011. The Eagles reached their first top-25 ranking that season.

Cop has club-level coaching experience with the Croatian Eagles Soccer Club in Milwaukee, Wis., and HNK Zrinski in Chicago. The Croatian Eagles won the United States Adult Soccer Association Open Cup National Championship in 2012.

Cop earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Southern New Hampshire University, where he played from 1995-98. He holds a USSF B National License, an NSCAA Premier Diploma and an NSCAA National Goalkeeping License.
