Soccer Picks Up Two More Spring Wins

MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State soccer team kept its perfect spring season in tact with a pair of wins Sunday at the Briner Sports Complex.

The Cardinals opened the day with a 2-0 win over IPFW and then went on to add a 5-0 victory over St. Joseph’s (Ind.) in game two.

Jasmine Moses scored three of Ball State’s seven goals on the day. She and Kelsey Wendlandt accounted for the Cardinals’ two scores in the win over IPFW.

Moses then scored twice in the win over St. Joseph’s to go along with goals from Madeline Malatestinic, Jenna Finke and Elaina Musleh.

“One of our goals this spring has been to make sure we produce more goals and capitalize effectively from different positions,” Ball State head coach Craig Roberts said. “We continued our progress today with the things we have been working on in the offensive third. We had a lot of consistent performances today, and it was nice to see some new players score.”

Brooke Dennis was in goal for both games. She was tested a few times on the day but managed to post her fourth and fifth shutouts of the spring.

Ball State improved its record to 7-0 for the spring. The Cardinals have one game remaining and will host Taylor for a 4:30 p.m. contest Thursday at the Briner Sports Complex.

The Cardinals are building toward their traditional season in the fall. Last year, the team reached the championship game of the Mid-American Conference Tournament for the first time ever and finished with an 11-7-4 record for the program’s most wins since 2007.
