Soccer Wins Two, Stays Perfect in Spring

MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State soccer team picked up two more wins Saturday as its spring season continued at the Briner Sports Complex.

The Cardinals began the day with a 3-0 shutout of Olivet Nazarene and finished it with a 4-2 victory in the annual Alumni Game.

Jasmine Moses scored a goal in both games. Ball State also tallied goals in the win over Olivet Nazarene from Lindsay Kempf and Nicole Pembleton.

In the Alumni Game, the Ball State goals came from Moses, Abbey Fiser, Kalynn Flanagan and Victoria Jacobs. The alumni team’s goals came from Alyssa Ables and Shaniece Thorpe.

Ball State goalkeeper Brooke Dennis recorded her third shutout of the spring in the day’s first game. She also held the alumni scoreless before leaving her spot between the posts in the final 15 minutes.

With the two victories, Ball State ran its record to 5-0 this spring. The Cardinals have three games left, including a pair of contests Sunday, April 13 -- at 1 p.m. against IPFW and at 3 p.m. against St. Joseph’s (Ind.) at the Briner Sports Complex.

The Cardinals are building toward their traditional season in the fall. Last year, the team reached the championship game of the Mid-American Conference Tournament for the first time ever and finished with an 11-7-4 record for the program’s most wins since 2007.
