MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State soccer players Madison Oyer and Leah Mattingly were honored with Mid-American Conference postseason awards Friday.

Oyer was named to the All-MAC Second Team, while Mattingly was selected to the league’s All-Freshman Team as the MAC Tournament semifinals got underway in Ypsilanti, Mich.

Ball State plays in Friday’s second semifinal game, taking on No. 2 seed Miami University at 2 p.m. at Eastern Michigan’s Scicluna Field. The first semifinal of the day features Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan.

Oyer, a product of Leo, Ind., has started all 20 games as the central midfielder for Ball State. The sophomore and former Memphis transfer leads the team with six assists on the year and has helped the Cardinals control the midfield this season. She assisted on both goals in the Cardinals’ MAC Tournament quarterfinal victory over Central Michigan.

Mattingly, a freshman from Floyds Knobs, Ind., has started all 20 games at defender for the Cardinals. She has played 1,884 of a possible 1,915 minutes,  helping to anchor a Ball State defensive unit that led the MAC with a 0.84 goals against average during the regular season. Mattingly has also scored one goal and assisted on two others on the offensive end.

The MAC postseason awards were selected by a vote of the league's 12 head coaches.

Ball State enters its game Friday with an 11-6-3 overall record, marking the most wins for the program since 2007. The Cardinals came into the tournament as the No. 6 seed and were the only team outside the top four seeds to advance through the quarterfinals.
