MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State soccer team opened it spring schedule Sunday with a pair of 4-0 wins over Findlay and Grace College at the Briner Sports Complex.

Victoria Jacobs and Jasmine Moses scored goals in both games for the Cardinals.

Gabby Veldman and Erin Greeley tallied the other two goals in the day’s first victory over Findlay. Kelsey Wendlandt and Lindsay Kempf added goals in the win over Grace College.

“We played well overall, and I was pleased with the consistency of our team,” Ball State head coach Craig Roberts said. “We are meshing together well. We were organized and played well defensively today. Offensively, we were able to put things together and show some variety.”

The Cardinals did not allow a goal in 140 minutes of action over the two 70-minute contests. Goalkeeper Brooke Dennis was between the posts for both shutouts.

Every player on the roster saw action and contributed for the Cardinals on a chilly afternoon.

“We knew we would have some things to work on,” Roberts said. “I feel good about the way we played, and it is something to build on as we move forward this spring.”

Ball State was on the field for the first time since a successful 2013 fall season that saw the team finish 11-7-4 and reach the finals of the Mid-American Conference Tournament for the first time ever.

Sunday’s games were the first of eight on the spring slate for Ball State. The Cardinals will return to action Sunday, March 30, hosting the Haiti National Team for the second year in a row. Ball State defeated Haiti 1-0 in last spring’s meeting.
