MUNCIE, Ind. - Third-year Ball State soccer head coach Craig Roberts announced the hiring of Marcie Klebanow to the position of assistant coach. Klebanow spent last season as the assistant coach at USC Upstate before being named interim head coach in February.

"I am delighted to have Marcie join the Ball State staff," Roberts said. "She will bring a lot of energy and dedication to our program. Marcie has a wealth of knowledge and experience and is also very familiar with our region which will be instrumental in our recruiting."

Klebanow holds the NSCAA Premier Coaching Diploma, the pinnacle of the Residential Academy offerings. She also holds the NSCAA National Goalkeepers Diploma and the USSF National D License.

Klebanow spent last season at USC Upstate as the top assistant working with both the goalkeepers and field players. She was the team recruiting and travel coordinator while acting as the team liaison with the compliance department. During her time, two Spartans earned Atlantic Sun postseason accolades.

Klebanow was named the USC Upstate interim head coach in February. She was responsible for all activities during the Spartans spring season, including all recruiting activities, spring practices and games as well as controlling the program's budget.

"I am honored and excited to have the opportunity to work with a prestigious soccer program at Ball State," Klebanow said. "I believe Coach Roberts has a great vision for the program. I am looking forward to helping the team reach their goals and continue to grow as a dominant force in the Mid-American Conference."

Prior to USC Upstate, Klebanow spent two years as an assistant coach/goalkeeper coach at Wagner College. She helped tutor the Seahawks' first ever All-Conference recipient as Julie Vigliotti picked up Northeast Conference (NEC) Second Team honors in 2009. She monitored the Wagner student-athletes academic progress which saw the Seahawks post the highest GPA in the NEC in both 2009 and 2010.

Additionally, Klebanow served as a volunteer coach at Indiana during the 2005-06 season before taking over as an assistant coach at Bloomington South High School in 2007 and 2008. She helped the Panthers post back-to-back conference championships.

In February 2010, she served as the Region I '96 Girls Administrator at the Inter-Regional Camp in Pomona, Calif. She was the team trainer and American liaison for the Russian U-14 National Team in July 2010, marking the first time an international squad came to the United States for a regional event. She has also served on both Indiana and New Jersey state ODP staffs.

The Cleveland, Ohio native received a bachelor's of science degree in secondary education with a focus in language arts from Indiana in 2009. She earned her master's degree in education with a focus in literacy from Wagner in 2011.
