MUNCIE, Ind. – Ball State men’s basketball player Jeremiah Davis will be eligible for the entire 2014-15 season. Based on his circumstances, the NCAA granted a request to waive the normal one-year residency requirement for transfer students.

Davis transferred from the University of Cincinnati in January. The Muncie native sought to return home after his family was displaced from its house because of a fire.

He practiced with the Cardinals for the second half of the 2013-14 season. Because the NCAA granted his appeal, he will be able to play at the beginning of the upcoming season as opposed to waiting until the semester break to become eligible.

Davis spent two and a half seasons at Cincinnati before transferring. He was limited to four games in his second season because of a wrist injury for which Cincinnati has requested a medical hardship. If that is granted, he would complete his eligibility in 2015-16.

Davis played locally at Muncie Central High School, where he was named The Star Press Athlete of the Year for boys’ basketball in 2009-10. He then played one season for nationally ranked Huntington (W. Va.) Prep before beginning his college career at Cincinnati.
