The Ball State men’s basketball program will be well represented at Saturday’s Indiana high school state finals with three members of its incoming class playing for championships.
Indianapolis Arsenal Tech, featuring Ball State signees Jeremie Tyler and Rashaun Richardson, will play in the Class 4A championship game against Lake Central. Sean Sellers and his Greensburg team will meet Bowman Academy in the 3A title game.
All three players will take the floor in the night session Saturday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The 3A game tips at 6 p.m. and will be followed by the 4A game at approximately 8:15 p.m. Both will air on Fox Sports Indiana.
Greensburg (27-1) and Tech (26-2) have combined to lose just three games all season. Greensburg is the state's top-ranked team in 3A. Tech, the No. 2 team in the final 4A poll, is ranked No. 6 in the country by MaxPreps.
Sellers is scoring 22.1 points per game and shooting 66.2 percent from the floor during Greensburg’s tournament run. He scored 21 in the Pirates’ come-from-behind win over Guerin Catholic in last weekend’s semistate.
Tyler is scoring 18.8 points per game and shooting an astonishing 72.6 percent from the floor in the postseason for Tech. He is averaging 16.1 points per game for the season, second on the team behind only Kentucky signee Trey Lyles. The 6-foot-8 Richardson is adding 5.4 points per game.
Sellers, Tyler and Richardson -- along with Francis Kiapway from national prep school runner-up St. Thomas More School in Connecticut -- signed with Ball State in November. They will be freshmen for the Cardinals in 2014-15.
