Volleyball Adds Transfer Marissa Hine To Roster
MUNCIE, Ind. - - Marissa Hine (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville), who played the last two seasons at Belmont University, has been added to the Ball State women’s volleyball roster as a walk-on student-athlete according to head coach Steve Shondell.
“We are very excited to add Marissa to our roster,” Shondell said. “She loves the heat of battle and can dig with the best. It will take her some time to get adjusted to our style of play as she missed a majority of the preseason, but when she does, she will make a positive impact on our team.”
In two seasons as a defensive specialist at Belmont, Hine played in 30 matches and recorded 69 digs. She started seven matches as a freshman and recorded her first collegiate kill in her debut versus Alabama A&M (Aug. 24, 2012). As a sophomore, Hine posted a career-high 18 digs at SIU Edwardsville (Oct. 5, 2013).
Prior to her two-year career at Belmont, Hine was a four-year letterwinner for head coach Steve Ward at Noblesville High School. As a senior, she finished second among all Indiana Class 4A players in digs, while ranking seventh in aces. She was also a member of the Indiana All-North Team and was named All-Hoosier Crossroads Conference, team captain and defensive most valuable performer as a senior.
