MUNCIE, Ind. –For the second time this season, the Ball State women's tennis team No. 1 doubles tandem of Bethany Moore and Courtney Earnest were named the MAC Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week.
"I'm proud of Bethany and Courtney," Ball State Head Women's Tennis Coach Max Norris said. "They played well to help us secure two doubles points against good teams. I know they'd like to thank the coaches who voted for them. We are excited to keep improving."
Moore and Earnest closed out Mid-American Conference regular season action with a 2-0 record over the weekend. The twosome started the weekend off with an 8-7 (5) victory over Drew Fillis and Emily Reuland. The duo then clinched the doubles point against Western Michigan Saturday afternoon helping the Cardinals to a 6-1 win over th Broncos. With the win the Cardinals tallied its 16th victory of the season, which is the most since it won 16 in 1994-95. Ball State's 6-2 MAC record also marks the best finish in program history. The best league finish prior to this season was five which happened on five different occasions, the last time being 2013-14 when Ball State finished 5-3.
The Ball State women's tennis team will be the No. 2 seed in this weekend’s 2014 Mid-American Conference Tournament which will be hosted by the Miami RedHawks in Oxford, Ohio, at the Hepburn Varsity Tennis Courts (April 25-27).
