Women's Tennis Suffers Tough 5-2 Loss To Xavier
MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team suffered a tough loss at home to Xavier Saturday afternoon at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
With the loss, the Cardinals fall to 9-6 overall while the Musketeers improve its dual mark to 21-6.
Ball State opened the match with a win at No. 1 doubles after Courtney Earnest paired up with Bethany Moore to take down Alex Brinker and Sydney Liggins, 8-5. The Cardinals twosome of Toni Ormond and Kristel Sanders defeated Daniella Patton and Cristina Di Lorenzo on court two earning Ball State the doubles point over xavier.
The Cardinals entered singles action up 1-0 over the Musketeers. Xavier came out strong taking five of the six singles matches for the victory. Courtney Wild won the lone singles match for Ball State after posting a three set (6-2, 6-7 (3), 6-3) win at the No. 1 position over Brinker. Earnest put up a tough fight on court two losing in three sets after taking the second set from Liggins but couldn't hold onto the victory. Moore fell to Patton in three sets at the No. 4 singles position after taking the first set but would drop the next two.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues dual on the road when it travels to Butler for a 1 p.m. first serve.
