Women's Tennis Loses At New Mexico 6-1 Saturday

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Ball State women's tennis team fell 6-1 to New Mexico Saturday evening in Linda Estes Tennis Complex.  With the loss the Cardinals fall to 8-4 on the season while the Lobos improve to 8-15 on the year.

New Mexico took the doubles point from the Cardinals after posting wins on courts two and three.  Toni Ormond paired up with Kristel Sanders at the No. 2 position and would lose first by a score of 8-1 to Meredith Hopson and Natasha Smith.  Courtney Wild and Ashlyn Rang would be the next doubles tandem off the court losing to Dominique Dulski and Emily Olivier, 8-4 at the No. 3 spot.

The Lobos entered singles action up 1-0 over the Cardinals.  New Mexico would take five of the six singles matches from Ball State.  The Cardinals lone point came from Wild at No. 1 singles after pulling off a 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10) victory over Michaela Bezdick.  Courtney Earnest would also take her opponent Lizette Blankers to three sets but would lose, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 on court two.

The Ball State women's tennis team continues action at the Linda Estes Tennis Complex Sunday when it faces Colorado at 12 p.m. EST.
