Women's Tennis Wraps Up First Fall Tournament
MUNCIE, Ind. The Ball State women's tennis team concluded its first fall tournament of the season, the BSU Fall Invite, Sunday afternoon at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.
Freshman Marin Kanii went 3-0 in her first collegiate tournament and was the lone Cardinal to win her respective flight Sunday. Kanii posted a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Wright State's Liz Steingass in the Flight F final match. Wild also competed in the finals but lost in the Flight A draw to Miami's Christiana Raymond, 6-2, 6-4.
The Cardinals opened the invite with 15-2 record, after posting a 7-1 mark in doubles while going 8-1 in singles action. Ball State also had three players reach the semifinal rounds of their respective flights this weekend; Ashlyn Rang, Toni Ormond and Anna Rozenberg.
In doubles play, Wild and Rang paired up to become the doubles Flight C champions after beating Eastern Kentucky's twosome Amanda Faouzi and Marcela Jimenez Saturday, 8-2 . Kristel Sanders alongside teammate Bethany Moore advanced to the finals of doubles Flight A Sunday but lost to Cleveland State's Princess Gbadamosi and Victoria Bensimon, 8-6.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues fall action when it plays at the Wake Forest Invitational, Sept. 27-29, in Winston Salem, N.C.
