MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team finished its first day of the BSU Fall Invite Friday at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center and then ended day indoors at the YMCA Northwest Tennis Center.
The day began with one round of doubles and two rounds of singles competitions. The Cardinals went 15-2 on the day after posting a 7-1 mark in doubles and an 8-1 singles stand. The doubles tandem of Courtney Wild and Ashlyn Rang reached the finals for flight C which will be played Saturday morning.
In singles action, Wild, Courtney Earnest, Rang, Kristel Sanders, Toni Ormond, Anna Rozenberg and Marin Kanii all posted undefeated marks in their respective flights. Ormond and Rozenberg, both true freshmen, claimed straight set victories over their opponents. Ormond took down Paige Heuer of Valparaiso, 6-3, 6-4 in singles C flight while Rozenberg earned a 6-4, 6-2 victory against Butler's Angelina Qin in the singles D Flight.
In doubles play, Moore and Sanders paired up to win both their matches 8-3, in the flight A bracket. Ormond and Earnest also won two matches.
