MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team (14-8, 4-2 MAC) hosts Bowling Green (10-6, 4-2 MAC) Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. The Cardinals will then close out the week with their last Mid-American Conference regular season match versus Western Michigan (13-9, 2-4 MAC) Saturday with first serve at 1 p.m. Both matches will be played at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center, weather permitting. If moved indoors, they will be played at the YMCA Tennis Center.
Ball State's matches against Bowling Green and Western Michigan will begin with three doubles matches and finish with six singles matches. The Cardinals are coming off of a 4-3 win over MAC rival Eastern Michigan Saturday for the first time since 1990. Also on Saturday, the Bowling Green Falcons defeated Buffalo 5-2 and the Western Michigan Broncos earned a 6-1 victory over Akron. Bowling Green has a 20-16 edge all-time over the Cardinals. Western Michigan also leads the series record over Ball State, 31-7. The Cardinals fell to the Falcons 6-1 in Bowling Green, Ohio last season. Ball State went 2-0 over Western Michigan last year, beating the Broncos 4-3 in Kalamazoo and then defeating WMU in the MAC Tournament quarterfinals also by a score of 4-3.
After this weekend, Ball State will compete at the 2014 MAC Tournament in Oxford, Ohio hosted by Miami University (April 25-27).
