LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team ended its three days of competition at the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals Saturday which was hosted by Purdue University.
"This tournament was a great experience for our team," said Ball State head women's tennis coach Christine Bader. "Courtney Wild, Courtney Earnest and Ayaka Terashi played tough in their consolation matches. "Courtney Wild made it to the quarterfinals of the backdraw and Ayaka lost in the round of 16 in a tough three and a half hour three set match against Kelly Gray from Memphis. We will continue to improve after this weekend in preparing for our last invitational at FIU."
The Cardinals competed in the consolation singles flight Saturday. Sophomore Courtney Wild went 2-0 for the day with victories over Butler's Stephanie McLoughlin (6-4, 6-3) and Kaylene Chadwell of UT-Chattanooga. Freshman Ayaka Terashi was also a winner after taking down Vanderbilt's Megan Gomet in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1.
The Ball State women's tennis team will end fall play at the Panther Fall Tournament which is hosted by Florida International located in Miami, Nov. 2-4.
