Ball State's baseball team ended its spring trip with a 10-2 win over Harvard to improve to 6-8.

Scott Baker improved his pitching record to 4-0 on the season with the victory.  He started the contest and pitched five innings, allowing only one earned run and striking out three.  Matt Johnsen relieved Baker and pitched three innings, allowing only two hits, while T.J. Weir pitched the final frame and allowed no hits.

The Cardinals registered 10 runs on 14 hits, while allowing Harvard only two runs on six hits.

Kevin Schlotter managed a 3-for-5 performance with one run scored and one run-batted-in.  Schlotter was one of four Cardinals to register doubles in the contest.

Sean Godfrey was 2-for-6 with two runs scored and two RBI, including one double.  Billy Wellman managed a 2-for-5 performance from the plate with one run scored, one double and two RBI.  Cody Campbell was 1-for-1 with an RBI double in his only plate appearance as a pinch hitter.

Ball State was in control from the beginning of the game when it took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a Wellman RBI single.

Harvard tied the game in the bottom of the second, but the Cardinals answered with two runs in the third, one in the fourth and one in the fifth to take a 5-1 lead.

With a 5-2 lead heading into the seventh, Ball State broke the game open with a five run seventh inning.  With two outs, Campbell hit an RBI double down the left field line to start the scoring.  Elbert Devarie managed an RBI single, Godfrey scored two runs on his single and Weir's single scored Godfrey.

The Cardinals are scheduled to open at home Friday vs. IPFW in the first of a four game series at Ball Diamond.  The teams are expected to play one game Friday, two games Saturday and the series finale Sunday.  All Ball State baseball games are free admission.
