Baseball Alum Sean Godfrey Promoted to Rome Braves


Sean Godfrey, the 2014 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year as a senior outfielder on the Ball State baseball team, has been promoted to the Rome Braves of the Rookie Appalachian League.

Godfrey was drafted in the 22nd round of the 2014 Major League Baseball Draft by the Atlanta Braves and began his professional career with the Danville Braves.  With Danville, Godfrey batted .412 in 16 games with nine doubles, nine runs-batted-in and one triple.

Godfrey batted .333 in 237 at-bats for the Cardinals in 2014 with nine home runs, 22 doubles and 57 runs-batted-in.  He ranked nationally in doubles (9th), runs-batted-in (17th), total bases (30th with 128) and hits (45th with 79).

Godfrey helped Ball State to a 39-18 overall record, a 22-4 MAC mark, the MAC Regular-Season Championship and a MAC West Division title.
