Ball State's baseball team, under the direction of head coach Rich Maloney, will host an exhibition game with the Ontario Blue Jays, a Canadian All-Star team, at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Ball Diamond.
The exhibition is open to the public and admission is free of charge.
The Ontario Blue Jays are made up of players from the Canadian National Junior program and recently won the Mickey Mantle World Series. The team plays Central Michigan, Northern Illinois and Kent State from the Mid-American Conference this fall plus will play Notre Dame and Iowa in addition to the Cardinals. The Ontario Blue Jays play in the Premier Baseball League of Ontario with teams ranging from Toronto to Ottawa to Windsor.
Ball State ended the 2013 season with a 31-24 overall record and managed a 15-12 MAC mark. The Cardinals finished second in the MAC West Division and advanced to the MAC Tournament Championship Game.
Sophomore pitcher Scott Baker was named the MAC Pitcher of the Year, while Billy Wellman was named to the All-MAC First Team and Sean Godfrey to the all-league second team. Baker ranked fifth in the nation in victories and was named the MAC Pitcher of the Week five times in 2013.
