Ball State baseball's Sean Godfrey, a senior outfielder for the Cardinals in 2014, has been named to the 2014 Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association All-America Third Team.
Godfrey, who was earlier named to the Louisville Slugger All-America Third Team as chosen by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, was drafted in the 22nd round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Atlanta Braves. Godfrey is playing with the Danville Braves in the Appalachian Rookie League and was 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles in his pro debut.
The 2014 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year, Godfrey batted .333 in 237 at-bats for the Cardinals in 2014 with nine home runs, 22 doubles and 57 runs-batted-in. He ranked nationally in doubles (9th), runs-batted-in (17th), total bases (30th with 128) and hits (45th with 79).
Godfrey was the only player from the MAC honored on the three All-America teams. He has become the 15th player in Ball State history honored by an All-America team and the eighth to earn third-team honors.
Godfrey helped Ball State to a 39-18 overall record, a 22-4 MAC mark, the MAC Regular-Season Championship and a MAC West Division title.
