Baseball Welcomes Volunteer Coach Dustin Glant

Dustin Glant, a former right-handed pitcher for the Arizona Diamond backs organization, from 2003-08 after being drafted in the seventh round from Purdue University, has joined the Ball State baseball coaching staff as the volunteer assistant for the 2012-13 season.

"We are elated to have Dustin Glant join our staff," said Ball State head baseball coach Rich Maloney. "He brings a wealth of experience, having played nearly 10 years in the minor leagues. He is a very competitive person with great energy and a passion for coaching young people. I couldn't be more pleased for our players that we are adding someone to our staff with the credentials Dustin brings."

Glant was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks franchise in 2003 where he advanced to their Triple-A team the Tucson Sidewinders in 2007 & 2008.  After the 2008 season, he continued his professional career in four different Independent Leagues; the Mexican Pacific League, Colombian Winter League, the Northern League and ending his career with the American Association Winnipeg Goldeyes in 2011.

He served as the head baseball coach at Mt. Vernon High School in 2011, and was the baseball manager for the Pony Express 17 under baseball team.  Glant also served as the assistant pitching coach for both the varsity and junior varsity teams at Marathon High School in Marathon, Fla.

Glant was drafted after his junior season at Purdue University, when his professional career ended he completed his academics by earning a bachelor degree from the University of Phoenix in 2011.

Born July 20, 1981 in Decatur, Ind., Glant attended Wayne High School in Fort Wayne, Ind.
