MUNCIE, Ind. – Ball State men’s swimmer Drew Tharp was named MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week for the second week in a row. Tharp is coming off a dual meet against Eastern Illinois where he earned an individual victory and was a member of a relay win.
Tharp was a member of a winning relay and earned first place in the 200 fly in a dual meet victory against Eastern Illinois. The senior clocked a 1:55.30 in the 200 fly, nearly two seconds faster than his next closest competitor. The butterfly specialist helped the Cardinals to a win in the 400 medley off a split of 50.82 to clock a season-best time of 3:36.31.
Tharp ended the fall semester with a 4.0 GPA for a cumulative GPA of 3.83. He is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in biology.
The Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to one male and one female student-athlete in the league based on athletic performance for the week of competition and overall academic achievement. The winners are selected by a group of the conference’s faculty athletic representatives.
