Menís S&D Tops Eastern Illinois, 181-87, Friday
MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's swimming & diving team earned wins in all 16 events as the Cardinals posted a 181-87 victory versus the Eastern Illinois Redbirds Friday afternoon at Lewellen Aquatic Center.
Ball State tallied its first victory in the 200 medley relay, as junior Michael Weber (Lorain, Ohio/Elyria Catholic) and seniors Gavin McNeeley (North Manchester, Ind./Manchester), Chris Krupa (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) and Casey Schroeder (Williamsport, Ind./Seeger Memorial) combined to clock in at 1:34.54.
Then, Krupa returned to post wins in the 200 fly (1:52.29), 100 fly (50.34) and 200 IM (1:58.38), while junior Nicholas Stevens (Greencastle, Ind./Greencastle) took home victories in the 200 free (1:46.15) and 500 free (4:49.78).
Schroeder then posted wins in the 100 free (47.85) and 50 free (21.71) and Weber tallied first-place finishes in the 100 back (52.72) and 200 back (1:56.86).
Other individuals scoring wins for the Cardinals were freshman Andrew Lamb (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) in the 1000 free (10:08.45), sophomore Joseph Morris (South Bend, Ind./Clay) in the 100 breast (58.28) and McNeeley in the 200 breast (2:08.83).
Sophomore swimmer Michael Oaks (Franklin, Ind./Franklin Community) then combined with Schroeder, McNeeley and Weber for a first-place victory in the 400 freestyle relay, clocking in at 3:11.47.
Sophomore diver Jake Brehmer (Valparaiso, Ind./Chesterton) also added first-place efforts on the 1-meter (264.82) and 3-meter (293.47) boards.
The Cardinals return to action Sunday, Jan. 22, when the squad heads to Indianapolis, Ind. for the Butler Invitational, beginning at noon.
