Women's S&D Open Conference Action With Akron

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's swimming and diving team will face its first MAC opponent as it travels to Akron to battle the Zips at 1 p.m. at the Ocasek Natatorium.  The Cardinals took a 155-145 win last season when the two squads faced off in a dual meet.

When the teams squared off last season, eight Cardinals earned first place. Bridgette Ruehl (Lowell, Ind./Lowell) won the 100 and 200 breast, Haley Richter (Roanoke, Ind./Columbia City) earned first in the 100 fly and 200 IM while Carlena Magley (Waterloo, Ind./DeKalb) eclipsed the field in the 50 free. The 200 medley and 400 free relay teams also captured the top spot.

Last week, the Cardinals took second at the Indiana Intercollegiate. Ruehl, Richter and Magley all captured first places in their respective specialties. Jillian Bischoff (Atlanta, Ind./Hamilton Heights) had a strong showing in the 100 and 200 free earning second and third place respectively.
