MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State swimming and diving staffs are pleased to announce the 34th annual Swimming Camp will take place beginning June 9-14 at Lewellen Aquatics Center on Ball State’s campus.
The BSU Swimming Camps provide young athletes, ages 8-18, with a unique, informative and exciting living and learning experience. The coaching staff is talented and knowledgeable. Each camper will learn about the latest training techniques in swimming.
The High School Swimming Camp is a designed exclusively for swimmers in or entering high school. This pre-season training camp will incorporate all of the aspects covered in the BSU Swimming Camps, but more emphasis will be placed on the physiological and mechanical principles of training.
The participants of the camps are housed and fed in the modern, well-equipped dormitory complex near the pool. All swimmers get breakfast, lunch and dinner and are supervised 24 hours a day by coaches and counselors who live in the dorms with the campers.
The cost is $570 per camper ($450 for commuters) which includes all meals.

Bob Thomas – Ball State Men’s Swim Coach
Coach Thomas has spent 30 years as head coach for the men’s swim team and six years as the co-head coach for the men’s and women’s teams. Thomas is a graduate of Eastern Illinois where he achieved 14 NAIA and NCAA national titles. Prior to his arrival at Ball State, Thomas coached successful USS, high school and junior college teams in Illinois. As a four-time Mid-American Coach of the Year, Thomas has developed 83 MAC champions and numerous Senior National Finalists and Olympic Trial Finalists. He continues his own swimming at the Masters level and is the past Backstroke National Champion in addition to numerous other National Championship titles and national records.
Kristy Castillo – Ball State Women’s Swim Coach
Coach Castillo just finished her first season as head coach for the women’s swim team at Ball State. Before coming to Ball State, Castillo was the assistant swimming coach for nine years at the University of Akron and is the school record holder in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events. She has had experience working at the Stanford Swim Camps from 2006-09 as well as the Akron swim camps. In her first year at the helm of the Cardinals, Castillo produced three individual MAC Conference Champions and a championship 400 Medley Relay. A Ball State swimmer also made it to the 2013 NCAA Swimming Championships.
Assistant Coaches, Staff and Resident Camp Counselors
Laura Seibold-Caudill retired as the women’s swim coach, but will return as the administrator for the 2013 camps. Additional staff members include Ball State men’s and women’s coaching staff and varsity team. We provide a 1:7 ratio to provide personalized attention.
