MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State women's golf program has added a former top Indiana junior golfer to its roster in University of Iowa transfer Allison Lindley.

The 2013 graduate of Western High School in Kokomo, Ind., will be a sophomore for the Cardinals this season. Lindley played in some of the biggest amateur events in the country over the summer at the Women’s Western Amateur and the Women’s North & South Amateur. She placed sixth at the Indiana Open Championship.

“Allison is a tremendous athlete and golfer,” Ball State head coach Katherine Mowat said. “I recruited her as a junior golfer, and I have always liked her game. She will have an immediate and great impact on our team, and I look forward to coaching her for the next three years.”

In her freshman season at Iowa, Lindley competed in eight tournaments and posted a 78.91 stroke average. She logged three top-20 finishes and led the Hawkeyes with a tie for 16th at the Dallas Athletic Club Invitational in April.

Lindley was a three-time all-state performer at Western High School and finished fourth at the Indiana state championships as a senior. Ranked as the second-best player from Indiana in the class of 2013, she qualified for the 2012 U.S. Junior Girls Championship. She also lettered in basketball, track and tennis in high school.

The Cardinals get their season underway in less than a month when they tee it up Sept. 7-8 at Illinois State's Redbird Invitational in Normal, Ill. Lindley is one of four newcomers who join a group of five returning players on the Ball State roster.
