Women’s Golf Hosting The Preview in Fishers

MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State women’s golf team will get an early look at the site of next spring’s Mid-American Conference Championships when the Cardinals host The 2013 Preview on Monday and Tuesday in Fishers, Ind.

Ball State will be looking to defend its Preview title from last year, while Cardinals senior Meghan Perry returns as the defending individual medalist. Last year’s tournament was played at Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio.

This year’s two-round event will feature 18 holes both days on a par-72, 6,127-yard layout at The Hawthorns Golf & Country Club. The start of Monday’s opening round has been pushed back to 11 a.m. in order to get the course ready after Sunday’s rain.

Results will be available at the conclusion of each day at

The 16-team field includes eight MAC schools: Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Toledo and Western Michigan.

Cleveland State, Eastern Kentucky, IPFW, IUPUI, Marshall, Oakland, Valparaiso and Western Illinois will also be competing at the event.

Jenna Hague leads Ball State into the tournament, having finished among the top 10 at all three of the Cardinals’ events this fall. She won Illinois State’s Redbird Invitational to open the season and owns a 73.11 stroke average.

Perry and fellow seniors Sarah Westaway and Mary Welch join Hague in the lineup along with Karley Dobis. Additionally, Meghan McDougall, Brenna Obergfell and Kelsey Sear will be competing for the Cardinals as individuals.

Ball State won last year’s Preview by three strokes over Bowling Green, while Perry claimed a one-shot victory over Eastern Michigan’s Meredith Fairbairn for her first collegiate title.
